WHO WE ARE

In 1933, California enacted the Outdoor Advertising Act and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) adopted a set of guidelines and regulations, much of which mirrored the federal rules on outdoor advertising.  In 1967, the CSOAA was created, consisting of a handful of outdoor companies to monitor the state’s oversight abilities.

Today, the CSOAA is comprised of several licensed outdoor advertising companies, our active members and other industry stakeholders, our affiliate members..  The association’s goals are two:  First, the CSOAA monitors all legislative proposals impacting the industry.  In some cases, the association sponsors new legislation to take advantage of efficiencies in the marketplace or to overcome some obstacle hindering member companies from prospering.  Second, we work diligently with Caltrans to understand the mind of our regulator.
